Neville Richter is a wood carver who has a strong background and education in the classical approach to decorative arts with experience in gilding, drawing, and modeling.  He has studied and worked in the traditions of sgraffito, pastiglia, and tortoise shell application.  He is experienced in water and oil gilding.

       I’ve always had an emotional connection to the arts but was not able to realize it until I got through a vast, rewarding career in the health sciences.  Throughout my 45 years in dentistry, I fed my addictions with furniture making and clumsy attempts at wood carving until I could study carving and gilding full time at the last remaining institution in the world that taught the classical arts in the time-honored way.  I bring to each project a sense of timeless tradition and dignity.

     My interest lies in melding furniture making with carving, a tradition not seen in our world of Ikea-infused households. 

    Beautiful frames are said to be the reward of the artist for his work.  Mall-based framing shops are the antithesis of a reward for the talented artist.  I intend for the frame to be a lofty compliment to the art it surrounds.
